2021 CCRRF Status

As of their Board meeting this month, the San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum (SLORRM) is still planning to host a Central Coast Railroad Festival the first weekend of October 2021. The hope is that it will look like a "normal" CCRRF as much as possible, though at this point it is just too hard to prognosticate. Look to summer for more definitive information.

SLO Train Day 2021 Goes Virtual

COVID concerns have once again cancelled all in-person features of SLO Train Day 2021. As a virtual replacement activity, Brad LaRose will present a Parlor Car Chat (a virtual gathering) about the history of the SLO Railroad Museum on May 8, 2021 at 10am PDT. Details are here.

Help the Swanton Pacific Railroad

The Swanton Pacific Railroad in Davenport was destroyed during the CZU Complex Fire in Santa Cruz County. Pictured is what is left of the Roundhouse and the locomotives from the 1915 Pan Pacific Exhibition. Two of the three locomotives were badly damaged, and all the passenger cars were lost to the fire. There is another locomotive that was off site to be fitted with a new boiler. Cal Poly has set up a crowd funding site to make it easy for those who want to help to be able to make donations. Parlor Car Chats

The Parlor Car Chats online program of the San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum (SLORRM) has been running since May 2020. Since then, over 4,000 views were either live or as playbacks later.

Upcoming Chats:

• February 20th, 10am PST, Rail Excursion to the Huntington Library.
• March 6th, 10am PST, Speeders on the SMVRR 2008-2010.
• May 8th, 10am PDT, History of the SLO Railroad Museum.

SLOCOG Coast Corridor Rail Study
Online Meeting Feb. 18th

The next Friends of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad event on February 18th will be virtual. The topic is the Coast Corridor Rail Study including how SMVRR might be involved. The Zoom presentation will be live from the offices of the railroad starting at 6pm PST. Join the Zoom meeting here.

San Luis Obispo Model Railroad Association

The San Luis Obispo Model Railroad Association's public events have been on hiatus during the pandemic. We have been holding virtual meetings among our members and guests at 7pm on the third Monday of the month. Central Coast Trains is Open

Central Coast Trains in Atascadero is open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-5pm. Special orders and mail orders are our specialties. If the door is locked, please knock. Face masks must be properly worn and tracking information (name, where from and contact number) will be taken per OSHA requirements.
