2022 CCRRF October 7-9, 2022

Planning has begun for the 2022 Central Coast Railroad Festival scheduled for October 7-9, 2022. FYI, CCRRFs will always begin on the first Friday of October.

2022 CCRRF Participants

These folks have already indicated their intention to participate in the 2022 Central Coast Railroad Festival: Bob Chaparro and his CCRRF Model Layout Tour (see last year's), Central California Coast Garden Railroad Society, SLO Model Railroad Association, and Oceano Depot. And, there are a couple potential new participants that we'll announce as soon as confirmed.

New Model Layout Photos from CCRRF

Since the last CCRRF e-blast, we've posted two more pages of model layout photos from the 2021 Central Coast Railroad Festival (CCRRF) by Bob Chaparro: page 1 and page 2. Also since the last e-blast, we've added a page with a few photos of Norgrove Railway during CCRRF which also includes a link to a unique photo documentary of that railroad; go here.

SLO Railroad Museum Open Again

The San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum (SLORRM) is open once again following a brief hiatus in February due to staffing issues. Come on down! Check out what's been done over the last couple years! Every Saturday 10am-4pm. Members free, Adult $5, Child (4-15) $3, Child (3 and under) free. The SLORRM website is here.

Friends-of-SMVRR Upcoming Activities

The Friends of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad have a couple of events coming up. March 24, 2022: "LIVE FROM THE OSBURN YARD!" Zoom Tour with Rob Himoto. April 2, 2022: Visit the Santa Ynez Historical Museum. See the Friends website for details.

Model Railroad Days in April

The San Luis Obispo Model Railroad Association along with the Oceano Depot Association are presenting Model Railroad Days multiple weekends in April (15-17 and 22-24). The event will be held at the Oceano Depot. Please visit slomra.org for more information.

Best of the West Antique Equipment Show

The 2022 Best of the West Antique Equipment Show will be held Memorial Day weekend, Friday May 27, 2022 through Sunday May 29, 2022, at the beautiful Santa Margarita Ranch, home of the Pacific Coast Railroad Company. Also participating will be the Central California Coast Garden Railroad Society. The show's website is here.

Spring Fling at the Dallidet in SLO

Sunday, April 3rd, from noon to 2pm, details here. Did you know that there's a fair bit of railroad history at the Dallidet! San Luis Obispo once had a trolley system on rails running through downtown. And one of those trolley cars is on display at the Dallidet (pictured). The "barn" that houses the trolley car is part of the original Ramona Depot built in 1889 for the newly-arrived Southern Pacific Railroad. Get a sneak peak at the Dallidet Gardens before they re-open to the public on May 29th.

Back on Track in 2022

The Pacific Southwest Region Convention of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) will take place in San Diego September 7-11, 2022. From their website: "The San Diego Division's 'Back on Track in 2022' Pacific Southwest Region Convention looks to be a jam-packed model train experience. From the opening night Welcome Reception at the San Diego Model Railroad Museum to a famous keynote speaker at our closing awards banquet, you will have an opportunity to learn new things, establish new friendships, and come away with stories and experiences to share the rest of your life." Dino Train and S.T.E.A.M. Festival

If you happen to be in the greater LA area March 19-20, 2022, don't miss the Dino Train and STEAM Festival at the Southern California Railway Museum in Perris, CA (east of LA along the 215). PBS' Buddy the Dinosaur will be there! Details about the event are here.

Sunday Afternoon Tea at the
Lomita Railroad Museum

Check this out... Sunday Afternoon Tea at the Lomita Railroad Museum in Lomita, CA (near Torrance in the LA area). All the goodies you'd expect and a look at the Museum to boot. Raffle prizes, too. Sunday, April 24, 2022, 1-4pm.
