CCRRF October 7-9, 2022

Planning is underway for the 2022 Central Coast Railroad Festival (CCRRF) scheduled for October 7-9, 2022!

If you've got some ideas on what to add, make better, etc... Or, better yet, want to be a Participant or Sponsor in 2022, please contact us through the CCRRF Contacts page.

2022 CCRRF Participants

This list is growing fast! If you'd like to be on this list, confirm your participation by contacting: Conductor@CCRRF.com.

Film "COAST" Includes SMV Railroad

An exclusive screening of "COAST" will take place tomorrow evening, April 27th, 7:30pm, at the Fremont Theater as part of the SLO Film Fest. Details here. This is an exclusive screening of "COAST" for our Central Coast where much of the movie was filmed. Here's the kicker... Some scenes in the movie were filmed on the Santa Maria Valley Railroad!

CCRRF/SLORRM Photo Contest 2022

The host organization of the Central Coast Railroad Festival (CCRRF), the San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum (SLORRM), will conduct a Photo Contest this year. The contest will culminate with announcements of the winner(s) and a photo display at the Museum during the Festival. The theme will be "About the SLO Railroad Museum." Fundamentally, the SLORRM will be looking for photos that could be used to promote or tell the story of the SLO Railroad Museum. Details are being worked out now, but photographers may want to start giving it some thought. The deadline for submissions won't be until September something so you have plenty of time. Watch the SLORRM website for updates and details.

CCRRF Call for Speakers 2022

The Central Coast Railroad Festival is looking for a few speakers to present talks at the SLO Railroad Museum on Saturday, October 8, 2022 during the Festival. We're particularly looking for talks about railroad photography and talks about the history of the SLO Railroad Museum and the Southern Pacific Freighthouse built in 1894 (home of the Museum). If you'd like to be a speaker, drop a line to Conductor@CCRRF.com with a brief description of what you would talk about. Talks should be in the range of 30-45 minutes. The Museum does have some Audio/Visual support available.

Return to Steam at the
Pacific Coast Railroad Company

The 2022 Best of the West Antique Equipment Show will be held Memorial Day weekend, Friday May 27, 2022 through Sunday May 29, 2022, at the beautiful Santa Margarita Ranch, where the Pacific Coast Railroad Company will return to steam operations. Also participating will be the Central California Coast Garden Railroad Society. The show's website is here.

SMV #205 Returns to Steam, too!

The restoration of Santa Maria Valley #205 locomotive has been completed and the Albany & Eastern RR (in Lebanon, OR) acquired the locomotive for service on their line. It appears LerroPhotography.com will offer a photo excursion with #205 in October. Here's a great video of #205's test run last December on the Albany & Eastern. There are links to a couple webpages about the #205 on the History tab at Friends of the SMVRR.

UP Historical Society 2022 Convention

The 2022 Convention of the Union Pacific Historical Society will be held May 11-14, 2022 in Cheyenne, WY. Details are here.

Back on Track in 2022

The Pacific Southwest Region Convention of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) will take place in San Diego September 7-11, 2022. From their website: "The San Diego Division's 'Back on Track in 2022' Pacific Southwest Region Convention looks to be a jam-packed model train experience. From the opening night Welcome Reception at the San Diego Model Railroad Museum to a famous keynote speaker at our closing awards banquet, you will have an opportunity to learn new things, establish new friendships, and come away with stories and experiences to share the rest of your life."
