The Rules/Guidelines for the SLO Railroad Museum's 2022 Photo Contest have been broadened a bit in terms of the theme or purpose. The intent is still to get photos to help promote the Museum and its mission, but additionally, we have broadened the area from which photos may be taken to include all of San Luis Obispo County and northern Santa Barbara County. Monument to Their Memory
On June 25, 2022, the first of two art pieces was dedicated at Promontory Summit, Utah, home of the Golden Spike National Historical Park. This sculpture is meant to acknowledge those who actually built the tracks. Click
here for a news report. Several folks from the SLO Railroad Museum were at Promontory Summit in 2019 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. Click

Dana Adobe Events
In addition to rejoining the Railroad Festival this year by highlighting their Pacific Coast Railway history, the Dana Adobe and Cultural Center in Nipomo, CA has other events all year long. Check out their
Events page.
Video Library at the SLO Railroad Museum
Over the last several years, the SLO Railroad Museum has developed quite a library of videos available online (and free!). The categories include Train Tales, conversations with local trainmen; Parlor Car Chats, thirty 60-minute videos on a myriad of topics; Railroad Festival videos; and miscellaneous videos. Check it out

Operation Lifesaver Celebrates 50 Years!
In 2022, Operation Lifesaver (OL) celebrates 50 Years of Rail Safety! Since OL's inception in 1972, collisions at railroad crossings have dropped by 84%. But there is more work to do - every three hours in the U.S., a person or vehicle is hit by a train. Amtrak launched a Commemorative Operation Lifesaver 50th Anniversary Locomotive. Details

Made the List for Memorial Weekend 2022
Two of our CCRRF Participants made the list of "Things to Do Over the Memorial Day Weekend 2022" as listed by the SLO Tribune (

Oceano Depot with new World War II uniforms on display.
Oceano Depot's WWII Display Extended
The Depot's exhibit of WWII uniforms has been
extended through July! The Depot is open every Sunday from 1-3pm or by appointment.
