Map View of the Festival

There's available now a notional map view of the Central Coast Railroad Festival. Click here. You'll still want to reference the CCRRF detailed schedule.

Museum BBQ Dinners and Online Auction

Ordering for BBQ dinners (by Railroad BBQ Co) ends tomorrow and the Online Auction bidding closes this coming Friday the 7th at 5pm PDT. This is a fundraiser for the SLO Railroad Museum that culminates at the Festival. Details: BBQ, Auction.

At the Oceano Depot...

On Saturday the 8th starting at 1pm, the Ukeladies from Morro Bay will be entertaining the crowd. There will also be hot dogs and popcorn available from 10am to 2pm on Saturday. Look for a model railroad yard sale as well on Saturday and Sunday. Check out everything else at the Depot, including HO and N scale model layouts by the SLO Model Railroad Association.

At the SLO Railroad Museum...

The SLO Railroad Museum will be open October 7-9: Friday 2-6pm, Saturday 10am-4pm, and Sunday 10am-4pm. Saturday is the BIG DAY with Operation Lifesaver, South Street Roundhouse, vendors and displays, trackside demonstrations, SMVRR Hi-Rail display, a G-scale layout outdoors, presentation of Photo Contest Winners, lunch by Railroad BBQ Co., kids art contest drawing, and wine tasting in the Pullman car. Friday and Sunday are open as Festival Host only, no special exhibits or activities.

At Norgrove Railway...

The Norgrove Railway Open House will be on Saturday the 8th from 10am to 4pm and Sunday the 9th from 10am to 2pm. It's a brand spankin' new 600mm (just under 2') gauge railroad being built near Hiway 101 that winds through a vineyard and citrus orchard, focusing on superbly refurbished railroad equipment including a WWI trench engine. There will be shop tours and exhibits, operating steam and diesel locomotives, a steam roller, and a display model train layout by the Central California Coast Garden Railroad Society.

Here's a little teaser... Mike Massee recently posted a video on YouTube: Firing up and running "Buckeye" O&K 0-4-0 Steam Locomotive!. This 15-minute video will give you a good idea of what's happening at Norgrove Railway!

At the SLO Library (Downtown)...

The Orange County 'N' Gineers will have a large N-scale layout operating in the Community Room of the downtown SLO Library branch all weekend: Friday 1-5pm, Saturday 10am-5pm, and Sunday 10am-3pm.

At Other Venues...

Share your Festival Photos

If you get any good photos of the Central Coast Railroad Festival (any/all venues, any/all times), please make them available to the CCRRF's webmaster: webman@CCRRF.com. We'd love to put some of them on the CCRRF website, crediting the photographer. You're welcome to submit photos any time during or after the CCRRF weekend.

PCRR had to Cancel

Unfortunately, the Pacific Coast Railroad had to cancel its participation in this year's Central Coast Railroad Festival. They're knee-deep in projects at the railroad as a 9/28/2022 post on their Facebook page attests. We wish them well and hope they try again next year to join the Festival.

Stay Off the Tracks

Here's a rail safety website that's been around a few years, but was new to this editor: StayOffTheTracks.org. It contains various resources with which to partner with them in spreading the word. As you might imagine, they work together with the more familiar (perhaps) Operation Lifesaver.
