Upcoming CCRRF: October 6-8, 2023

Planning has begun for the 2023 Central Coast Railroad Festival scheduled for October 6-8, 2023. FYI, CCRRFs will always begin on the first Friday of October.

First Official 2023 CCRRF Participant

Bob Chaparro, of Model Railroads of Southern California and his very popular CCRRF Model Railroad Layout Tour, has confirmed his participation in this year's Railroad Festival! Last year this tour included about 32 layouts at 18 locations across the Central Coast area from Thursday through Sunday of the Festival weekend. See last year's details. Most layouts are free to visit. The tour is self-guided.

2023 SLORRM Photo Contest is Open

The 2023 SLORRM Photo Contest is officially open for submissions. The 2023 guidelines are here. Last year's winners are here. Photographers under 18 years of age may participate this year (see the guidelines). The deadline for submission is September 15, 2023.

SLORRM Releases Spring 2023 Newsletter

The San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum recently released its Spring 2023 issue of "Coast Mail," the organization's newsletter. It's available here.

Central California Coast Garden Railroad Society April Luncheon

The Central California Coast Garden Railroad Society luncheon is a monthly activity for members and friends who want to socialize and enjoy a good meal with friends and colleagues. 8th Annual Dinner Gala/Silent Auction

Save the date for the 8th Annual Dinner Gala and Silent Auction for the Friends of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 5:30pm in the Fountain Pavilion at the Santa Maria Fair Park. It's a fun-filled evening and supports the Friends as they continue their efforts to preserve the history of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad and its impact on the Santa Maria Valley. The Santa Maria Valley Railroad will present the annual Public Safety Award and the Friends of SMVRR will present the annual G. Allan Hancock History Award. Details...

Upcoming Shows

The Orange County 'N' Gineers Modular Railroad Club are tentatively scheduled to be at these upcoming shows in March and April: the Bakersfield Model Train Show, the Great Train Show Victorville, and the San Bernardino Train Days Festival. See their website for details.

2023 National Garden Railway
Convention in Santa Clara

The 2023 National Garden Railway Convention will be held in Santa Clara, CA July 1-8, 2023. It is being hosted by the Bay Area Garden Railway Society (BAGRS). The convention website is here. There are also some before-the-convention activities such as the 2023 Great Western Rail Adventure which runs June 24-30 and includes the Niles Canyon Railroad, the Nevada County Narrow Gauge and Transportation Museum, Amtrak's California Zephyr, the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City, the Virginia & Truckee Railroad's Eastgate/Carson City station, the Western Pacific Railroad Museum, the California State Railroad Museum, the Sacramento Model Railroad Historical Society's HO layout, the Western Railway Museum, the Walnut Creek Model Railroad Society's huge HO scale model railroad, board a BART train, catch a Capitol Corridor train, the former Southern Pacific workshops, a Sacramento Southern Railroad excursion, the Napa Valley Wine Train, and private G-scale layouts along the way. Participate in a unique night photoshoot experience - whether you are a rail fan, photographer, or just love Southern California Railway Museum, this is something you won't want to miss! From 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on April 22, 2023, SCRM is opening its doors after-hours for a unique Night Photoshoot experience. Space is limited to twenty-five photographers, and reservations are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Click here for details.

Rails by the River 2023

The Pacific Coast Region NMRA and the Feather River Rail Society cordially invite you to attend Rails by the River 2023 Joint PCR/FRRS Convention in Sacramento, California, at the Courtyard by Marriott Sacramento Cal Expo, 1782 Tribute Rd, Sacramento, CA 95815 on April 26-30, 2023.
