San Luis Obispo had Light Rail!

The SLO horse-drawn streetcar system ran from 1887 to 1901. The first photo below is of one of the street cars still on display at the Dalidet Adobe in San Luis Obispo as of 2010. The other two images are of displays at the Jack House during the 2016 Railroad Festival.

Model Railroad Days at Oceano Depot

April 7-9 and April 14-16 from 10:00am until 4:00pm at the Oceano Depot. Featuring the San Luis Obispo Model Railroad Assocation (SLOMRA) HO modules PLUS N scale, too. See and hear the exciting model train action! PLENTY OF FREE PARKING ON SITE: 1650 Front Street, Oceano, CA. It's FREE.

8th Annual Dinner Gala/Silent Auction
Friends of the SMVRR

Save the date for the 8th Annual Dinner Gala and Silent Auction for the Friends of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 5:30pm in the Fountain Pavilion at the Santa Maria Fair Park. It's a fun-filled evening and supports the Friends as they continue their efforts to preserve the history of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad and its impact on the Santa Maria Valley. The Santa Maria Valley Railroad will present the annual Public Safety Award and the Friends of SMVRR will present the annual G. Allan Hancock History Award. Details...

Best of the West Antique Equipment Show

May 25-28, 2023, 8am to 5pm, at the Santa Margarita Ranch. The ranch is, of course, home to the Pacific Coast Railroad Company. This event will include train rides, tractor parades, fly overs, military salute, kids area, tractors, engines, cars, steam trains, airplanes, military vehicles, and more. This event is also the 2023 Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club (ACMOC) National Show. Details...
