Pacific Coast RR Seeks Recruits/Volunteers

The Pacific Coast Railroad at the Santa Margarita Ranch is looking for recruits/volunteers looking to learn railroading. Entry level starts at Brakeman and training is included. Dress code required. Rules class and training are coming in April. For more information, contact badgerlocoworks@gmail.com at the railroad.

Muzeo Express through 1/28/24

Should you find yourself headed for the Anaheim, CA area in January, check out the Muzeo Express. It's an annual holiday event that's fun for the entire family! A downtown Anaheim tradition, Muzeo Express brings whimsical holiday model train dioramas to life in celebration of the season. It opened in early December and runs through January 28, 2024! Details. SLORRM Wine/Rail Excursions 2024

Tickets for the Wine/Rail Excursions put on by the San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum are available now. The dates are these Saturdays: April 20, May 18, June 22, July 20, August 17, September 21, and October 19. Click here for details.

Friends of SMVRR Work Days 2024

The Friends of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad have started Work Days at the railroad. So far it looks like first Saturday of the month starting at 9am with lunch provided. Dates coming up are February 3rd and March 2nd. Membership and an RSVP are required. Click here for details.

Great Train Shows in February

The Great Train Show organization will have two shows near us in February, one in Ventura on February 17-18 and one in San Jose on February 24-25. Get details at their website.

Bakersfield Train Show March 2-3

The 30th Annual Bakersfield Model Train Show will be held March 2-3, 2024 at the Kern County Fairgrounds. Get details here.

Los Angeles Live Steamers
Railroad Museum

If you find yourself in the Los Angeles area midday on a Sunday, chances are you can scoot on over to the Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum on the north end of Griffith Park and catch a ride on one of their scale trains. They're open to the public most Sundays from 11am to 3pm. For more info, check out their About page.

Santa Susana Depot Updates

The Santa Susana Depot is in Simi Valley, CA about three hours south of San Luis Obispo by car. They've got a couple things in the works... First, they're looking for photos of trains along the railroad right-of-way on either side of the depot (between Tunnel 26, the westernmost and biggest tunnel, and the Simi Amtrak station). Submit photos to trainmonger@hotmail.com. Note: "Include your name (for photo credit) and a brief description of the photo. Photos will be posted based on visual interest. Not all photos will be selected." Second, the Depot has a Swap Meet and Open House four times this year: March 23, May 18, August 24, and November 2. Details here. Third, they're developing a new website (which is why they're looking for photos; a new section called "Train Watching at the Depot").

CCRRF Thank Yous Throughout the Years

Since 2009, the first year of the Central Coast Railroad Festival, about 90 organizations have been either a Sponsor or a Participant or both! Here's the list: Thank You!.
