Ready to Confirm Festival Participation?

It's not too early to confirm your Participation in or Sponsorship of this year's Central Coast Railroad Festival, October 4-6, 2024. As soon as you're confirmed as a Participant or Sponsor, we'll start listing/promoting your organization. To confirm, simply email Conductor@CCRRF.com.

Friends Celebrate SMVRR #21 with
February 24th Lunch Event

The Friends of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad will celebrate its most famous steam locomotive, the #21, with a Take-Out-Lunch on February 24, 2024, from 11am to 2pm at the SMVRR Offices in the Osburn Yard. #21, a Baldwin 2-8-2, has been with the Astoria Railroad Preservation Association since 1991 and is currently being restored for future operations. This occasion is the 62nd Anniversary of the last run of #21 on the SMVRR on February 21, 1962 - with Capt. Allan Hancock at the controls and Walt Disney in the cab! A couple more pictures from that 1962 event are here. Proceeds will support the Friends' Restoration Fund. Event details. Lunches must be purchased by February 19th.

Oceano Depot Updates

Two things... 1. The Oceano Depot has a new website. Check it out here. 2. They have a "Buy a Brick" campaign going on through the end of February; details are here.

Call for Festival Presenters

If you would like to make a presentation at the SLO Railroad Museum on the Saturday of the Central Coast Railroad Festival (10/5/24), please let us know. Simply email Conductor@CCRRF.com with a draft title and brief description about which you would talk. Talks should be railroad related, preferably regarding the SLO area, and be 30-50 minutes in length. A/V projection is available. We will only be able to accept up to three presentations. Presentations in the past have included: "Right of Way and Trackside Details" (modeling), "History of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad," "Why the Southern Pacific RR Chose SLO," "Rail Passenger Association of California and Nevada (RailPAC)," and "The Circus Train."

Norgrove Mainline Completed in 2023

The mainline of the Norgrove Gardens Railway was completed in 2023. A few photos celebrating the event are here.

Halter Ranch Syrah at Top Chef
Dinner in Colorado Springs

A 2018 Halter Ranch Vineyard Estate Syrah was selected as one of five wines for a Dual Top Chef dinner in Colorado Springs, CO on January 18, 2024. Top Chef Chris Viaud from New Hampshire and Top Chef Brother Luck of Colorado Springs joined forces at the Four by Brother Luck restaurant to present a 5-course Top Chef Dinner. Halter Ranch Vineyard Estate is the home of the Halter Ranch Railroad that debuted as a Participant at last year's Central Coast Railroad Festival. How in the world did we know about this dinner connection in Colorado?! Your Central Coast Railroad Festival Committee Chairman and CCRRF.com Webmaster and lifetime member of the SLO Railroad Museum lives in Colorado Springs! He's something of a Foodie, too.
