Children's Railroad Reading times and Amtrak Coast Starlight Coloring contest. Each Child will get to enter for a drawing of a Family of Four Tickets on Amtrak's Coast Starlight. Locations: SLO City-County Libraries-All Branches. Drawing on Saturday October 8th at the Railroad Museum. Detailed Library Schedule (PDF).
 
 

Model Layout Tour
Thursday-Sunday, October 6-9, 2016

 
Model Railroad Layout Tour #50 organized by the Model Railroads of Southern California. The detailed schedule is here (PDF). This tour includes 18 different layouts, at various locations from Lompoc on the south to Atascadero on the north, covering many scales and eras at both private and public sites. Bike Ride Along the Former Pacific Coast Railway Route. Meet at the Museum (1940 Santa Barbara Ave., SLO) at 9:00am. Depart at 9:15am for a docent-escorted tour to the Octagon Barn (about 3.5 miles). From that point, riders may continue a non-escorted ride as far as they wish (maps will be provided for those wanting to go as far as Port San Luis [the PCRy terminus]), or they may return to the Museum, by about 10:00am. Those returning to the Museum may then have a guided tour of the Pacific Coast Railway exhibits. Recommended: helmets; water; layered, brightly colored clothes. Photos...
